A sound knowledge of English and maths skills are so important for work and in everyday life. A recognised qualification also looks good on your CV when you’re applying for a job or career progression.
We offer a range of courses to help you improve your skills and boost your confidence and to work towards improving your skills and also work towards a recognised qualification.

FREE online Qualification courses for your first step into a new career
You could take the first step into gaining a recognised work-related qualification in an area where there are local job opportunities on one of our short online programmes. These short online courses are designed to fit in with your work and personal commitments and you’ll have regular sessions with your tutor throughout the programme.

Apprenticeships – A great way to get a qualification in your chosen career
Apprenticeships are the ideal way to progress your career prospects whilst studying for a recognised qualification. Apprenticeships aren’t just for young people, they are suitable for adults of all ages and ideal for people starting a making a career change or wish to progress their career to improve their promotion prospects.

If you would like to progress a career in Counselling or Teaching, City College Peterborough is a great place to study for your qualifications.
All of our teacher training courses are awarded by City and Guilds. We offer a range of courses from Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools to Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training, giving you the opportunity to advance your career in learning support and teacher training.

This qualification is suitable for those who are currently reaching in the Post-16 education sector and hold the full range of teaching responsibilities (planning, delivery, assessment, resource development and course evaluation). You must have access to at least 100 hours of teaching practice during the course.
Some units you will study include: teaching, learning and assessment in education and training, developing teaching, learning and assessment in education and training, theories principles and models in education and training, and wider professional practice and development in education and training.

Work related skills and qualifications

If you are an employer looking for staff training and development there is a fantastic range of courses available at City College Peterborough to suit your needs. This is an ideal time if you have furloughed staff to give them the skills and support to ease their return to the workplace.
