City College students achieve 1st prize in national Competition

The National Association of Writers’ Groups (NAWG) has awarded students from City College Peterborough (CCP) the Denise Robertson Group Anthology Memorial Plate for their entry ‘Temperaments’.

The National Association of Writers’ Groups promote the study and art of writing and have over 150 affiliated groups and over 100 individual members across the United Kingdom. Peterborough Writers Circle, who are one of the affiliated groups involved with NAWG participate in creative writing classes at City College Peterborough.

Class members of CCP, Henry Curry and Jo Robinson attended the annual NAWG festival held at Warwick University to receive the respected award.

Tim Wilson, Creative Writing and Literature Tutor at City College Peterborough comments: “I am proud to see that the Peterborough Writers’ Circle has gained the recognition of such a prestigious award for its members’ efforts into producing this anthology. All the class members work very hard and make a creative atmosphere.”

Pat Carrington, Principal at City College Peterborough comments: “It is great to see how students are benefiting from our creative writing courses and this award is a significant achievement that is well deserved by the students here at the College and those within the Peterborough Writers’ Circle.”
