The next stage of my journey

Where am I now

Well, where do I start? 5 months has gone by in the blink of an eye. Typically most apprentices are half way through their course by now whereas I am working full time as a Customer Service and Curriculum Admin Assistant while continuing with my NVQ.

Job Vacancy

I was told that a full-time job in the Customer Service Team was being advertised I thought I should apply for the job as, even if I was unsuccessful, it would give me interview practice and experience for the future. So I decided to send in my job application and try my best. It took me for what seemed like forever to complete my application form as I wanted to make sure that it was perfect. When I handed in my application form I felt relieved. All I had to do now was wait to hear whether I had been selected for an interview. I was over the moon when I received a letter inviting me in for an interview. Excited, but nervous. I began to prepare myself. What would I say? What would they ask?

The Interview

When my interview came around, I was so excited I wanted to make sure I arrived early. I had an assessment first, followed by an interview which went very well. And then I had to wait to find out whether I had been successful or not. When I received the phone call telling me I had been successful and would be offered the position I was over the moon. I quickly replied and accepted. I could not wait to be a permanent member of the customer team with my job title on my name badge

I have learnt so much in the last 5 months. I quickly became responsible for marking registers, chasing attendance and making sure tutors had what they needed in their register packs. As well as enrolling students and learning about the many courses and programmes that the College offer, to help me provide information and advice to the diverse range of people that come into the College.

I really enjoy being pro-active and being able to organize my busy workload, whilst working as a member of a small, but efficient, team. I also love talking to potential customers and existing students and tutors.

Let’s see what the next instalment brings!
