We kickstarted the week with a visit to Veterinary Business Development, who has just moved into great new offices in Werrington, and were super excited to see us with our certificate and Cupcakes in celebration of NAW 2018. We met with Jo Woods, Managing Director, and Amelia Costanzo, Social Media and Digital Marketing apprentice, and they gave us a tour of the new premises.
On Tuesday we visited Peterborough School Nursery to deliver Cupcakes and a certificate. The nursery has worked with City College Peterborough for many years, and have several apprentices at the moment with us, with many having progressed through from Childcare Level 2 and 3 to Leadership and Management Levels 3 and 5.
Tuesday afternoon we held our open event at Brook Street in the coffee shop, where we had assessors available to talk to those interested in finding out about different subject areas, and conducted interviews with those wanting to apply for an apprenticeship or study skills course.
On Wednesday, Tanya Meadows, Deputy Principal, took part in our “Back to the Floor” campaign at XL Displays in Orton Southgate. Tanya met with the apprentices and their mentors and got an insight into their apprenticeship journey. We delivered a certificate and cupcakes in appreciation of XL Displays commitment and dedication to apprenticeships with City college Peterborough. XL displays have worked with the college for several years, with Apprentices progressing from Business Administration and Customer Service to Team Leading and Management. You can view Tanya’s discussion with Alex, a Level 2 Business Administration Apprentice at XL Displays Ltd here.
Wednesday afternoon took us to NetSupport in Market Deeping, where our principal, Pat Carrington also took part in our “Back to the Floor”, meeting with the apprentices who are studying Social Media and IT, and finding out more about the “Apprenticeship Blog”, which NetSupport has coordinated over the past few months, and we now have several “bloggers” contributing to the site, sharing their apprenticeship journeys. Pat met with Al Kingsley, Managing Director, and had discussions about how apprenticeships have worked for NetSupport as an organization. Al Kingsley kindly took part in a short video clip which you can watch here.
On Thursday morning, Donna Barnard, Director of Employer Engagement, visited Coloplast to meet with apprentices and their mentors, and to find out more about their experiences as apprentices, and how the training has developed them within their role. Several of the apprentices were happy to share their experiences through short video clips which and are available to watch here.
We also delivered cupcakes and certificate to Alpha Kindergarten Nursery in Fletton, in thanks for their support over many years with apprenticeships through City College. The staff and manager were thrilled with the cupcake, and another certificate from us to display on their wall. Alpha have several staff currently studying for apprenticeships, ranging from Childcare level 2 to L5 Management.
Our final employer visit for NAW 2018 was to Kingfisher Court, Cross Keys Homes, with some cupcakes and a certificate in thanks for supporting us with Health and Social Care apprenticeships.
For our final event of Nation Apprenticeship week 2018, we held an information stand in Peterborough town Centre about apprenticeships and how they work and welcomed enquiries and requests for course information throughout the day.
