Bank holiday week activities at the Mini Vine

There’s lots of fun and entertainment planned at the Mini Vine @ 62 Bridge Street during the Bank Holiday week from Monday 30th August. If you’re out and about in the city centre pop in and say “hello” and have a go at a range of FREE activities.   We’re open 9-5 Monday – Saturday, 10-4 Sunday.

Don’t forget to pick up a course guide while you’re there to find out more about the exciting courses available to you starting from September 2021.

Children’s arts & crafts – Bring the kids along to get creative on our arts and crafts table.  

School uniform exchange.  Are your young ones ready for the new school year?  You can recycle uniforms ready for the new academic year at the Mini Hub – great for your pocket and the environment.

Knit & Natter, dominoes and scrabble hub.

Library Service, Story time 11.30am  & Rhyme time 2.30pm

Bank Holiday Monday 30 August – We’re open

What a great way to spend your Bank Holiday Monday joining in the fun at the Mini Vine.  Lots of FREE things for adults and young ones to do, so it won’t cost you a thing apart from your time.

9-5pm Viking Crafts Day. Enjoy our family arts and crafts activities with a special themed Viking Crafts day.  You could learn how to create your own Viking helmet and other fun things.

11 – 12 noon: Light Sabre Skills.  May the Force be with you! Brush up your Light Sabre skills (8-18 year olds) with our very own star wars team!

12.30 – 2pm.  Family Chess Have you always wanted to learn how to play chess or brush up on your existing game skills?  Pop in and learn the basics from our very own International Champion Ella.

Tuesday 31 August

9-4pm Viking Crafts Day. The Vikings are back to help you enjoy our family arts and crafts activities with a special themed Viking Crafts day.  You could learn how to create your own Viking helmet and other fun things.

12.30 – 2pm.  Family Chess Have you always wanted to learn how to play chess or brush up on your existing game skills?  Pop in and learn the basics from our very own International Champion, Ella

12 noon – 3pm  Health & Wellbeing Consultation Keeping healthy, both physically and mentally, is key to your general wellbeing.  Come in and have a chat with our Health & Wellbeing expert and learn how simple changes in your life can help you feel better

Wednesday 1st September 

9- 4pm Viking Crafts – We’re back again with our family activities creating and making Viking-themed crafts.

2-4pm.  Have you always wanted to work in health care?  Then have a chat with Vanessa and find out how you can progress your career and the different job options available to you.

10-12.30pm Get hooked crochet & knit wits!  Bring your needles and wool along and join our group of share your skills.

Thursday 2nd September – Open from 12 noon – 5pm

We’re taking a break in the morning ready for the fun and activities to start from 12 noon.

10 – 12 noon  (PLEASE NOTE NEW TIME) – It’s all about books! You’ll find lots of help and advice on books and how to enjoy the love of reading with our friends from the National Literacy Trust. You may be lucky and take a free book away with you too!

12-4pm Viking Crafts – We’re back again with our family activities creating and making Viking-themed crafts.

12-2pm Hair DemonstrationsOur young Hairdressing students are popping in to give you a demonstration of different hairstyles and for you to chat about your hair.

 SPECIAL EVENT – CHAIR-MAKING WORKSHOP – Would you like to develop your DIY skills and learn how to assemble a chair under the expert guidance of designer furniture maker, Matteo Fogale?  You will learn basic skills including how to care for wood and how to use handheld tools in joinery making.  The chairs made during the session will be used in Mini Vine to show off your skills.  There’s a £5 fee for this session, proceeds of which will be donated to local environmental charity, the Green Back Yard.   You can book your place here.

Friday 3 September

10-12 noon Would you like to improve your reading skills?  Then pre-book a 30 minute meeting with Rob and he will give you some 1-2-1 help and advice to get you on the right track to improve your English skills.

11am – 2pm It’s Apprenticeship Time!  Would you like to find out more about how you can earn while you learn on an apprenticeship?  Then come in and have a chat with Amanda and find out how you can find an apprenticeship position to work towards a recognised qualification.  Apprenticeships aren’t just for school, college or university leavers.  They are suitable for people of all ages.

12.30 – 2pm Family Chess. Have you always wanted to learn to play chess or brush up your game skills?  Pop in and have a chat with international champion chess player, Ella, who will be teaching chess on one of our popular Saturday courses. 

The Bunny Bus will be making a stop at the Mini Vine for the kids to enjoy.  

Saturday 4 September

11-12 noon Light Sabre Skills?  Back by popular demand, we’ll be holding another Light Sabre skills session, perfect for aspiring Jedi’s aged 8 to 18. Due to the high demand for this session, we recommend getting down in plenty of time to secure your place. May The Force Be With You!
