Adult education in Peterborough marks its 70th milestone with a year of celebrations
For the past 70 years, City College Peterborough has been providing education for adult and young people – offering everything from archaeology to willow weaving.
From apprenticeships and vocational courses to hobbies and pastimes – the college has been meeting the demands of Peterborough’s residents for more seven successful decades.
And to mark this milestone year – the College is planning a huge party at the Brook Street-based college in just a few weeks time – and is now searching for 70 people who celebrate their 70th birthday in 2014 to include on their VIP guest list.
A special 70th anniversary logo has been created to mark the milestone year, and a host of other exciting events are being planned throughout the year, including:
- A series of specially designed courses to reflect lifestyles and history in Peterborough during the 1940s.
- An exclusive trip to the Imperial War Museum, Duxford, for a behind the scenes tour of the site on Wednesday 7 May 2014
- A 1940s day at the college – which will host a themed fashion shows, vintage cars display and invite visitors to bring their own memorabilia. The day will culminate in a 1940s themed dance at Peterborough Town Hall.
- The launch of a book charting the history of the college.
