1. Our careers programme

Careers education and student support is a well-established part of the curriculum at City College Peterborough.

Your Path – Your Choice is at the heart of a well planned and progressive programme of personal, social, health, citizenship and careers modules ensures students develop aspirational goals and have structured and incremental support to achieve them.

The college careers provision is made up of 5 elements:

careers education within the curriculum
• planning and recording of achievement and work-related activities
• work experience
• access to individual and impartial guidance and support
• access to careers information including all routes and pathways

CEIAG as a taught subject: Every learner will access vocational classes and completed specific CEIAG relating to their vocational area. Exploring LMI and engaging with industry experts.

CEIAG learning delivered embedded through other subjects : In this approach careers content is delivered through subjects, e.g. personal financial planning skills taught in maths, self-presentation skills taught in English. This approach both provides career learning and enhances the subject learning, e.g. by showing how a mathematical technique is used in the real world.

CEIAG learning delivered through co-curricular activities: In this approach careers content is delivered through informal and voluntary learning activities which have a strong connection to the curriculum. At JMC we promote and engage with opportunities to complement formal careers in the curriculum provision.
