Intermediate Apprenticeship

You will achieve a Level 2 Certificate for the Early Years Practitioner

Candidates must be able to obtain a clear DBS check in order to pursue a childcare apprenticeship.

Learners will learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the Early Years sector. You will cover a wide range of topics including:

  • Patterns of children’s development
  • Significance of attachment
  • Theories and philosophical approaches to how children learn and develop
  • Supporting children experiencing transitions and significant events
  • Observation and assessment
  • Promoting health and safety
  • Supporting organisation requirements for recording, storing and disclosing information
  • Safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Promoting health and welfare
  • Promoting diversity, equality and inclusion
  • Plan and provide activities

For Level 2 apprenticeships, apprentices without the appropriate GCSE’s, they will also need to achieve level 1 English and mathematics and make an attempt at level 2 prior to taking their EPA.

Typical Course Duration: 12 months plus 3 months for EPA. 15 months in total.

 

Advanced Apprenticeship

You will achieve a Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Educator

Candidates must be able to obtain a clear DBS check in order to pursue a childcare apprenticeship.

Learners will learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the Early Years sector. You will cover a wide range of topics including:

  • Developing effective study skills
  • Promoting partnership working with parents
  • Modelling, promoting and supporting positive behaviour with children
  • Principles of Safeguarding
  • Promoting diversity equality and inclusion
  • Working in partnership with colleagues and other professionals
  • Planning and implementing activities and play opportunities and educational programmes
  • Promoting health and welfare
  • Promoting health and safety
  • Promoting children speech, language and communication development
  • Supporting organisation requirements for recording, storing and disclosing information
  • Supporting children’s creative and imaginative play and experiences
  • Supporting children experiencing transitions and significant events
  • Continues professional development
  • Theorists which underpin practice
  • Child development
  • Observation and assessment

 

For Level 3 apprenticeships, apprentices without the appropriate GCSE’s, they will also need to achieve level 2 English and mathematics prior to taking their EPA.   They will need to Complete Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) or level 3 Award in emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF).

Typical Course Duration: 18 months plus 3 months for EPA. 21 months in total.
