Are you good at establishing effective working relationships with young people, including those who can be disengaged, and would you like to support teaching and learning?

The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to providing additional classroom support to learners and will have experience of working with learners who are visually impaired
The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Establish effective working relationships with learner/s
    Undertake the role of Learning Support Assistant inside and outside of the classroom in order to provide high quality support, to visually impaired learner/s on study programmes
  • Be pro-active and effecting is providing all aspects of learning support
  • Work effectively with tutors to ensure the level of challenge is appropriate for the learner/s
    NB. All positions are working with 16-24 year old Learners

TEACHING ASSISTANT

Term Time Only – 35 Hours Per Week

City College Peterborough are looking for an enthusiastic, positive and learner driven Teaching Assistant to work within our Study Skills programme. You will be working with a diverse group of learners aged 16-24, some of which have special educational needs.

As a Teacher Assistant, your responsibilities will vary from providing support for individual students to shared groups of students who need assistance to absorb the lesson material. You will work with the lead Tutor in developing resources for class activities and will assist in record-keeping.

Our aim is to support learners in becoming independent and to progress onto their next steps in life!  To do this job well, you should be proactive, approachable and patient with a positive attitude. If you are passionate about working with and supporting young people, then we would like to hear from you!

The successful candidate will be able to:

  • Establish effective working relationships with learners
  • Undertake the role of Teaching Assistant inside and outside of the classroom in order to provide high quality support
  • Provide lunch time supervision and food service
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Work effectively with tutors to ensure the level of challenge is appropriate for the learners

Desirable criteria:

  • Experience working in an Education Setting.

Fixed Term Observer / Mentor (to December 2021)

We are looking for a skilled and experienced teaching/training professional to undertake observations of teaching, learning and assessment and carry out quality audits across our education provision. The successful person will also provide mentoring support to tutors and teaching assistants to meet Ofsted standards in judgments made and contribute to our continuous quality improvement planning.

You will complete observation reports, give feedback to tutors and teaching assistants within agreed deadlines; assemble and cascade resources demonstrating best practice and deliver mentoring; peer support programmes and staff development.

The post holder will also play a pivotal role in the development and application of quality assurance processes for our digital offer. A forward thinker, with a positive approach, together with the ability to work with, and motivate others is essential.

We have a great opportunity based at City College Peterborough for a Multi Skilled Tutor to become a key member of our Study Skills department.

Due to a growth in online teaching, we are seeking a confident and motivated tutor that can help and support learners with English and Maths. Alongside this role offer 1 to 1 tutorial support and be a support Mentors to our young people.

You will work with lecturers to raise the learning and attainment of young people, while promoting their social inclusion, self-esteem and independence.  You will get the opportunity to support students in all vocational areas of the college and ensure all students are provided with the most appropriate level of support to  assist them to access the curriculum, participate in learning and fulfil their potential.
You will need to be able to use your own initiative while out in support of learners, dealing with situations with tact and empathy.  The need to be flexible in your approach is imperative.  You will need to be qualified to GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English and Maths and ideally have experience of working with people with SEND.

At City College Peterborough we have a whole organisation approach to Maths and English provision based upon our commitment to improve the skills of learners by supporting them to achieve GCSE and Functional Skills qualifications.

Senior Social Care Manager/Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead

37 Hours Per Week

Grade 12 £39,880 – £43,875 per annum

The role is viewed as being key in leading the Day Opportunities, a multi-site provision enabling the people it supports to live more independently and have more fulfilled lives through a wide range of community and site based activities and employment support.  The department supports 250 adults with learning disabilities and autism, ranging for those with moderate disabilities through to people with complex needs requiring intensive care and support.  An independent evaluation found that the department is highly effective and works with individuals whether that is in the development of an individual support plan or the creation of department strategy and activities.  Working collaboratively with the Designated Safeguarding Lead and deputies, the role also includes developing and implementing the organisations safeguarding strategy and ensuring the wellbeing of the colleges learners and the people Day Opportunities support.

The successful candidate will join a team of dedicated, hardworking and committed staff.  Strong inter-personal and leadership skills are required for this post as the College and Service continues to expand quality provision and meet targets. The ability to work as part of a team and to be self-motivating is essential.

You can offer as much or as little time as you have available to fit in with your existing commitments and don’t worry if you don’t have teaching experience or a teaching qualification, we’ll be happy to support you.

The current rate of pay from £19.98 per hour if you don’t have a teaching qualification.
