City College Peterborough hosts its first Celebration of Learning at Peterborough Cathedral

 

City College Peterborough held its annual Celebration of Learning event at Peterborough Cathedral on Wednesday 23rd November 2016 with over 300 people attending to celebrate their achievements throughout the year.

All students who completed their course within the last academic year were invited to celebrate their own achievements and the achievements of others during the evening. Special guest speakers on the night included Councillor John Holdich, Leader of Peterborough City Council and Cabinet member for Education, Skills, and University, and Communications, and Gillian Beasley, Chief Executive of Cambridgeshire County Council who presented the certificates to the students.

Pat Carrington, Principal of City College Peterborough opened the event and spoke about City College Peterborough and its own achievements and developments, including launching the new College film. Pat announced the special awards for students and staff who have gone above and beyond throughout the year in their category. These included Adult Learner of the Year, Young Learner of the Year, Employee of the Year, Tutor of the Year and the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Pat Carrington, Principal of City College Peterborough comments: “This is the first time that City College has held its annual the event at the Cathedral in recognition of its learner’s. I am proud to see so many people, young and old who gave up their evenings to attend the event and witness their own achievements as well as their fellow students. Thank you again to all those who attended and to the guest speakers who gave up their evening to attend.”

City College Peterborough will be looking at hosting its next Celebration of Learning event next year in November.
