Breakfast Briefing: Supported Internships

Are you after hard working, diligent young workers?

Do you value providing work experience to boost your own work force and provide valuable experiences for young people?

Are you nervous about taking on work experience students or interns because of their additional training or special educational needs and disabilities?

Supported Internships could be a help to you and your business. These are unpaid internships lasting at least 6 months where the intern spends most of the time in the work place learning and completing tasks that are useful for you and provides them with the work experience they need to get into sustained employment. Supported internships are slightly different because the interns, who will have some form of special educational needs or disabilities, are supported by a job coach who explains and makes sure the intern understands and is able to complete the range of tasks set to them. The interns and employers are supported by the college running the programme and in Peterborough we will have two Colleges who will launching these programmes across the city.

Peterborough City Council in partnership with a number of other organisations including City College Peterborough and Peterborough Regional college are organising a free breakfast briefing for employers to explain how the supported internships will work on the Thursday 28th April 2016, serving food from 9:30am for 10am start and finishing at 12:30pm. The event will be held at the Allia Future business Centre (behind the POSH Football Grounds). Full details and booking information can be found here
