Courses for Learners with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities Skills for Independence

 

Qualification: Certificate in Developing Skills for the Workplace

A course designed to work towards a variety of unit topics including:

  • Arts and crafts, creating gifts to sell to the public
  • English and maths embedded into every session
  • Employability skills including, CV writing and how to undertake an interview
  • Health and fitness
  • Budgeting and shopping
  • Cooking
  • Looking after your home.

This course will help to build your confidence and self esteem.

GAPP (Getting ahead in Peterborough)

A course designed to aid young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder in Personal and Social Development and to enable them to live as independently as possible.

The course will look at a variety of areas including:

  • Independent cookery
  • Household shopping
  • Budgeting
  • Travel training
  • Health and fitness.
  • Looking after your home.

We will also work on social and emotional development through creative communication and discussion groups to build on skills to enable you to cope in social situations, understanding and empathising with peers and their views and opinions.
This course does not work to a formal qualification as it focuses on personal development.

We have brand new classrooms and a flat which is exclusive to our learners with learning difficulties and disabilities.
