Part-Time Tutors Required in a Range of Subjects

City College Peterborough is seeking talented people who can give a couple of hours a week or more to share their knowledge and skills with other adults and teach on a range of leisure interest courses at our main College sites and in the community. These courses don’t lead to qualifications.

If you have a teaching qualification or experience, that’s great, but you don’t need to. We are interested in applicants with good skills, industry experience and enthusiasm with or without teaching qualifications.

We are looking for people who can offer one of more of the subjects below. If your subject isn’t mentioned, please tell us what it is as we’re open to new ideas so you’re still welcome to apply.

Adult Learning Curriculum Manager

NJC Grade 9 SCP 30 – 34 £27,358 – £30,756

This role is key to supporting the achievement of all contractual financial and quality targets within budget. The post holder will work proactively to take a responsibility for planning the provision and its smooth operation as well as the effective deployment of all resources, including staffing. The role also carries responsibility for ensuring that all data and course documentation is recorded and maintained to a high standard to meet contractual and awarding body criteria.

The successful applicant will be a dynamic individual, who is learner- focused and who has an understanding of adult community learning in order to engage adults of all ages in learning and training, ensuring that individual support needs are met to enable people to achieve.  Our colleague will used to working on their own initiative and will also have a record of successful partnership working, together with the ability to identify new opportunities and to develop those opportunities, exploiting them to the best advantage for learners.  He or she will be charismatic, with an outgoing personality and will possess the ability to interact with people at all levels.

Book Keeper

NJC Scale: Grade 7 – Scale -22 to 26 – £21,074 – £23,886 (37 hours per week)

To provide the Sales Ledger, Purchase Ledger and Cashbooks administration for City College. They will play a key role in the finance team being heavily involved in day to day operations, credit control, petty cash processing and data analysis. This position will also play a part in other finance functions including budget and forecast preparation, process design and supervision of the finance assistant.

Accounts Assistant

NJC Scale: Grade 3 – Scale -9 to 11 –  £16,755 – £17,007 (FTE) (25 hours per week)

To provide a comprehensive support of the finance department with administrative duties including balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations and reports of college debtors and creditors. With a particular focus on supporting the Sales and Purchase ledger administration, this role will also be responsible for keeping registers of fixed assets and prepayments and will assist in process design. This is an exciting position aimed at providing somebody starting out, or progressing in their career in finance with broad exposure to many varied functions in the finance department.

As a result of the Government’s agenda to support the ‘up skilling’ of Maths and English as a priority area for young people and Adults, we are excited about the prospect of recruiting more Maths and English experts to join our dedicated team.

Whilst we continue to welcome applications from experienced teaching professionals, teaching experience is not essential. We will be delighted to support the professional development of individuals who are passionate about the value of literacy and numeracy skills; have excellent subject knowledge, with a desire to join the education profession. The range of opportunities include:

Full Time and Term Time only contracts

Sessional part time courses (variable hours depending on availability)

Qualification courses (Functional Skills, Themed awards and GCSEs)

The ideal candidates will have a commitment to improving the confidence, skills and abilities of learners. They will be passionate about education and have proven subject knowledge, previous delivery of iGCSE or GCSE would be advantageous.
The successful candidate will be required to:

Establish effective working relationships with learners

Engage learners through providing innovative and stimulating lessons

Assess, monitor, support and record learner progress

Work as part of a team to achieve timely results
