Service Assistant – 2 x 30 hour Posts – Permanent

PCC Grade 5 £16,781 – £18,070 Pro rata

We are looking for an individual that has the energy and enthusiasm to work with adults with learning disabilities in Day Opportunities, based at Kingfisher Centre in Bretton to support individuals with complex needs including challenging behaviour to maximise their potential and independence skills. This post is not term time hours and will be over 5 days.

You will work to promote a person-centred approach of independence and empowerment of people using services. You will assist with the planning, facilitating and evaluating in undertaking individual and/or group work with service users with the day service and/or community settings as determined by the care plans, including escort work to promote users’ confidence, independence, and acquisition of skills.

You must be prepared to deal with people who are often emotional and unpredictable in behaviour resulting in behaviours that challenge meaning you must be able to use negotiating skills to enable a person to fulfil their needs, and be as independent as they can be according to their care plan and physical/mental health situation. You will have an awareness of issues facing people with learning and/or physical disabilities.  You will have effective inter-personal skills such as negotiation, assertiveness and verbal communication.  You will have the ability to use initiative, prioritise, and liaise with a range of other professionals.  You will have the ability to work as part of a team and alone on base or in the community.  You will have good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal confidently with a variety of situations.

Maths and English Tutors

AOC PTLLS/CTLLS/DTLLS: £21,961.51- £29,520.46 Pro-rata
Non Qualified Teaching rate for trainee teachers £20,701.17 – £21,961.51

As a result of the Government’s agenda to support the ‘up skilling’ of Maths and English as a priority area for young people and Adults, we are excited about the prospect of recruiting more Maths and English experts to join our dedicated team.

Whilst we continue to welcome applications from experienced teaching professionals, teaching experience is not essential. We will be delighted to support the professional development of individuals who are passionate about the value of literacy and numeracy skills; have excellent subject knowledge, with a desire to join the education profession. The range of opportunities include:

Full Time and Term Time only contracts

Sessional part time courses (variable hours depending on availability)

Qualification courses (Functional Skills, Themed awards and GCSEs)

The ideal candidates will have a commitment to improving the confidence, skills and abilities of learners. They will be passionate about education and have proven subject knowledge, previous delivery of iGCSE or GCSE would be advantageous.
The successful candidate will be required to:

Establish effective working relationships with learners

Engage learners through providing innovative and stimulating lessons

Assess, monitor, support and record learner progress

Work as part of a team to achieve timely results
